If you think you need a website to promote online, not true. There are many ways to promote online without the benefit of having your own website.
If you are looking for a little help with your on-line promotion techniques, READ ON for helpful hints . . .
There are ways to promote your event online even if you don’t have a website. First if you do have a website, here are few things to consider when trying to promote an event –
These items should be on the site’s landing page in big bold letters-
– the event title, event date, location and how to sign up
Make it easy for site visitors to sign up for your event, even if you want visitors to look around your site to discover your products or services, an event should not be used to raise site navigation, you risk the loss of an attendee or sign-up.
Your Site Should Have . . .
– a registration form on your landing page
(easy to do if you have a WordPress site, there are lots of form plugins to choose from. I use Custom Contact Forms by Taylor Lovett version 6.7.0. Even if you are not a WordPress or form builder expert, Taylor’s form plugin is easy to navigate.
– a calendar with the event details listed
Timely offers a free calendar that can be installed on any website with a few lines of code. Their free calendar includes 10 events a month. You can change the colors, fonts, categories and views. Display your calendar agenda style, stream, month view, poster board and more. Add it anywhere on your site by copying and pasting their code.
– a video or media for visitors to view – keep your videos to between 1 and 2 minutes long. Tag your video with Keywords that will help people find your event.
Free Keyword services like Keywordtool and Wordstream keyword tool can help zone in to target the right audience for your event.
Make sure your website has all the social share buttons on your landing page. Visitors should be able to PIN your event information on their social media sites like Pinterest or share your video on Instagram or Vine.
If you want to promote online and do not have a website yet there are several ways to accomplish promoting your event.
Like Taylor Swift says “the players want to play, play, play” well the bloggers want to blog, blog, blog.
– Find Bloggers who will promote your event. How can you do this ? Use a blog indexing service. BlogSearch Engine.org is FREE, type the keywords you are searching and BlogSearch will display all relevant blogs.
When you find bloggers who are discussing relevant topics and who may relate to the event, follow their feeds, comment on discussions. If your event is a local retail event like a restaurant opening, you may want to target local bloggers whom the event might benefit in extra sales to their business on the day of your event.
If your event is online and could be reaching a potential national or even international audience, try to sort for bloggers by blog size and readership involvement and the diversity of readership base.
Check out the blogger’s social media reach. Do they have an active Twitter account or Facebook? Are they on Pinterest ? How large is the following? If you find 10 bloggers with Facebook followings of 1,000 followers and they share your event PR 3 times in a month, you have the potential to reach 30,000 if my math is right.
Find other bloggers who may have events to promote and would like to work together on promotion online. There are many sources to find other bloggers and their events. The Daily Post is one of the services we follow to find bloggers photo contests for an example.
As a free source of promotion, don’t forget about Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr and Vine to promote. These are all visual communication social media platforms. Keep your posts colorful, keep on message, know your target audience. Rely on your Keyword searches to target an audience.
The potential for FREE online promotion can be limitless and the best thing is you do not even need a website to do it!
