Your blog can be one of your powerful and logical brand creators. The perceptions of your brand shows through the content you are posting.
To build a following and create consistency on your blog,
Can you answer these questions . . .
1. Is Your Content Relevant to the Audience You Hope to Engage ?
Consider your content carefully. Posts should be useful or helpful information your followers want to share.
2. Is Your Content Interesting ?
Interesting content doesn’t mean it has to be sensational but should try to be engaging enough to stimulate a conversation and the desire to share your posts with others.
3. Is Your Content Relatable to Your Products or Service ?
You may not be so successful if your business is selling jewelry and all your posts are about Football, no matter how many folks care about the Sunday night football game scores !
4. Are You Able to Commit the Time to be Consistent ?
Most successful blogs post on a regular basis. Whether that is everyday or once a week, keeping a posting schedule can be to your advantage. There are many tools to help do this like Co-Schedule.
5. Are You Tagging Your Posts for SEO?
Search engines index content and tagging your post appropriately will help you show up in searches. Make sure your tags relate to the content and don’t over tag. Between 3 and no more than 10 tags is a good place to stay.
6. Are You Using Your Other Social Media Platforms to Promote Your Blog Posts?
Always share your posts on your Twitter and Facebook accounts. Depending on your content, you should consider other relevant social media sites to share on such as Tumblr, Vine, YouTube or Instagram. This will help broaden your reach to an audience.
7. Sharing on Twitter – Are All Your Employees Sharing the Company Post ?
If you have employees willing to share the company post, schedule the post to be shared throughout the day so it is not being shared only in one segment of the day or have employees share multiple times like twice a week and/or retweet the post.
8. Have You Included Social Share Buttons on Your Blog Post?
These little buttons mean others can share your content. It is important to include as many social share buttons as you can. Besides having the big 3 – Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest – consider LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr and email share.
9. Now that you have a number of posts – Have You Gone Back and Reposted Your More Popular Posts?
This is often a helpful practice and is a good way to have relevant, useful posts shared again. You may want to review and update information before reposting.
10. Are You Responding in a Timely Matter to All Comments and Requests?
The whole reason you have a blog is to build an audience for your business so don’t forget to respond to comments, even the negative ones. As painful as that may be sometimes, you may be able to turn a negative into a positive if your lucky!
To sum it up -Consistancy, Relevancy, Usefulness and Interesting – keep these 4 words in mind when blogging and I don’t see how you can go wrong !
